Did you know?
Each year, injuries in the community game are monitored via the Community Rugby Injury Surveillance Programme - CRISP. This is managed by the University of Bath and funded by the RFU.
Injury patterns, number of injuries, types of injury and how injuries are happening are generated by the programme. Information is then used for (i) comparing injury risk with the professional game and (ii) informing injury management and prevention strategies.
In 2016-17, concussion was the most commonly reported injury (3.0 concussions per 1,000 player match hours).
